Ophel Excavations

Armstrong Institute of Biblical Archaeology presents "Pilgrimage to Jerusalem at the Time of Jesus—What the Ophel Excavations Reveal"—a lecture by Hebrew University professor and Ophel excavation director Uzi Leibner.

For the past three years, Prof. Leibner has led Armstrong Institute staff and students to continue the excavations of the late esteemed archaeologist Dr. Eilat Mazar. The last three seasons of excavation have further revealed a monumental Second Temple Period structure that is related to the function of the temple in Jerusalem. Prof. Leibner will discuss Jerusalem in the Second Temple period, and what the Ophel excavations have revealed, including some of the remarkable discoveries from ancient Jerusalem. The lecture will conclude with a question-and-answer session.

The event will be held in the theater. Admission is free and no reservations are required.
