The pinnacle of the school year for the campus’s music program, the Spring Honors Recital will feature talented graduating high-school seniors alongside the Armstrong Youth Orchestra, performing a new Irish-inspired suite by Assistant Music Director Mark Jenkins.
In addition to other select soloists from the campus’s music program, this year’s new jazz combo will finish off the first half with “Linus and Lucy,” “Moon River,” and “Ain’t She Sweet.”
The second half will highlight the accomplishments of the choral program: the elementary-aged Imperial Choraliers, the Armstrong Youth Chorus and the Armstrong Chamber Choir. In addition to favorites like “That Lonesome Road,” “Here Comes the Sun,” and “On a Clear Day (You Can See Forever)” this recital will host the world premiere of two new choral works by Music Director Ryan Malone: one based on an Emily Dickinson poem (“I Had No Time to Hate”) and the other based on a Charles Anthony Silvestri poem (“When All Falls Silent”).
The lobby will also showcase an art gallery in the lobby featuring works by Imperial Academy’s visual-arts students—viewable during intermission, as well as before and after the performance.
Admission is free and open to the public. No reservations required.
